Government Control: Inside North Korea

After watching the documentary Inside North Korea, what comparisons can you make between the North Korean government and the Capitol of Panem in the Hunger Games?

  1. The comparisons between North Korea and the Hunger Games is that, there's no freedom or rights they have to follow what the makers or leaders tell them and also there's hunger both North Korea and Hunger Games. The capitol of Panem and Kim Jong Il are both very similiar treating the people like they're better then the rest and only knowing the world they live in.

  2. A comparisons between the North Korean governmaent and the hunger games is that there is an obvious problem with hunger. I hope that the influence that katniss has over the city of panem cange help the districts in any way, like how Kim Jong Un is trying to bring democracy into North Korea.

  3. North Korea and The Hunger Games are a lot alike. They both do not have much freedom. They are not a loud to go outside of their district or country. In the Hunger games, if they were caught then they would be turned into an Avox. An Avox is where someone disobeyed what they were told. If they are caught they get their tongue cut off and have to serve in the capitol. In North Korea if they get shocked or they are sentenced to death.

  5. The governments are alike because they both conceal their people from the outside world, lack in heealth, and neither let their citizens have the freedom to speak their minds!
Their people are concealed from the outside world by electric fences. In Hunger Games they conceal their people to prevent yet another uprising. In North Korea they conceal their people so that they aren't attacked by their own weaknesses.
They both lack in health because in both places there is hunger and starvation. Deaths even because of it.
In Hunger Games Katniss is told to "bite her tounge," which is being careful of what you say because you can be killed, and in North Korea they now actually believe that their leader is they way to live!

  6. Some comparisons between the Capitol of Panem in the Hunger Games and the North Korean government are, that most of the people say that the government/capitol is totally right even if they believe in their minds that’s their totally wrong. Simply because they are scared… scared of what might happen if one wrong word slips out of their mouth. That is beyond sad to me. Being scared all your life to express your opinion? Everyone in our school would probably be punished or “disappear” if that’s how it worked around here… agreed? We have some pretty bold students here … not to be offensive. Also in both the Hunger games and North Korea the people are not allowed to have any contact with their outside world. This is because the governments know that if they do get contact and figure out what is really going on and how wrong it is the might find ways to join together and destroy the capitol. Everyone in North Korea and The Hunger Games live a very rough life in terror and control. I really hope this all changes in benefit for their people.

    1. I did not think about the comparisons of them thinking they are right. That is a really good comparison.

  7. The government controls Panem and there is no doubt about that. For example… The make them do the Hunger Games, and the reason they do this is so they make people think there aren’t in control. They created the games so people wouldn’t rebel against them, but this causes them to want to rebel more. For example… when Effie Trinket asked the audience to clap for the hunger games drawers, but they didn’t. They practiced a form of anarchy toward the capitol by not showing appreciation… but by silently denying any recognition.

  8. Some comparisons between the Capitol of Panem in the Hunger Games and the North Korean government are, people say that the government/capitol is always right even if they believe in their mind that its wrong. Simply because they are scared… scared of what might happen. Also, people are not allowed to have any contact with their outside world. This is because the governments know that if they do get contact and figure out what is really going on they might find ways to join together and overthrow them. North Korea and the hunger games are alot alike as you can tell. There are many more connections and are not limited to just these two.
