Entertainment Media

The Hunger Games is broadcast and required for all the districts of Panem to see. Many aspects of the Hunger Games are controlled by the Gamemakers. What comparisons can you make between today's reality TV and the Hunger Games?

  1. In the “Hunger Games” the Game Makers arrange for certain events to happen. To make the games more entertaining and “fun” to watch. On reality T.V. producers arrange for certain things to happen also to make it entertaining. An example is the fire storm in the Hunger Games and the fights on reality T.V that you can tell were arranged.

    1. Also, to add to this idea, the relationship between sponsors and viewers cannot go untold. The “Hunger Games” causes Katniss to put on a “fake” appearance so she can gain sponsors. Sponsors can send supplies, with the right amount of money of course, to the tribute of their choosing. In addition, viewers of reality TV give the shows of their choosing better ratings. Therefore, better money.

  2. The broadcasting of the hunger games is much like reality TV because everything (whether it’s something sad, bad, depressing, tragic, or just plain gory) is showed worldwide. A good example of this is WWE, where people fight each other to get fame and money. Where in the hunger games the capital broadcasts every tribute fighting to the death.

  3. comparisons and difference between the hunger games and reality T.V. are quit easy to find for instance a diferece is that reality t.v. is not reqiured and the hunger games is and a simularity is that they are both controled.

  4. One of the similarities between the Hunger Games and Reality TV is violence. It’s the type of violence you see all the time on TV…it just doesn’t matter that much anymore if one person dies. Another similarity is that they both are controlled by someone. The Hunger Games is controlled by the Game Makers, and Reality TV is controlled by the producers of the show or film. Which goes up to the government saying it is required to be in the Hunger Games or Reality Tv.

  5. The reality tv and the hunger games are controlled by the producers and the game makers. The game makers like to get a good laugh watching the districts kill each other ,because it's entertaining . Like reality tv, they make drama to create the entertainment. People don't like to watch something without action or excitment. The audience is so attached to the violence, drama and the "star crossed lovers".

  6. In the hunger games book the Gamemakers control what goes on in the arena to make the viewing experience “better” for the (forced) viewers at home. That is just like what the creators and producers of popular reality TV shows do to collect more viewers. Even though the tributes aren’t scripted and aren’t told what to do, they still have everything around them controlled. As opposed to the cast of TV shows such as “Jersey shore” or “The Bachelorette”, whom are told what to say and do, in order to get paid. The environment of the arena is controlled by the Gamemakers, just as “Snooki” and “The Situation” are controlled by “Jersey Shore” creators.

    1. I completely agree, its like when the gamemakeers controlled the fireballs to gather the tributes together to cause more action, the producers "spice up" the show when it gets boring so they dont lose viewers!

  7. Between the Hunger Games and Reality T.V. there are so many similarities to people it’s scary. How would you feel if you had to fight for your life when you didn’t want to? Or, be on T.V. and be a completely different person then what you really are that isn’t real? Hunger games, they have people called the Gamemakers that are in charge of it. They are the ones that control the arena and everything that goes on. That is really similar to Reality T.V. producers. The producers are the ones that give the actors the script to be the person they want them to be. Drama and seeing people suffer is something people love to watch. In Hunger Games, the capitol enjoys watching the tributes suffer and die. As opposed to Reality T.V. people the watch the shows like the drama and entertainment. For example, like the shows “Jersey Shore” and “Survivor.”

  8. The Hunger Games and Reality T.V. together contain many similaties. Similarities such as Gamemakers controling what goes on in the arena and what is shown to all of Panem and Producers of T.V. shows (reality), tell the "stars" what to say or do and what they shown to their regular viewers, and how if the particuar Reality show is a game show then there is always some type of reward and Hunger Games is rewarding too, if you win!
The similarity of the gamemakers and the producers is like when the gamemakers controlled when and where the fireballs hit to draw the tributes together, and when producers tell the "stars" what to say and do or how to act!
The similarity of the rewards is like if you win the Hunger Games you are rewarded with, not only your life but your district will be pampered, and showered with gifts and the victor will get a new house in the victors village. In a game show the winner is usaully rewarded with money.
